Role Overview
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide hands-on support to adults with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. This role focuses on supporting daily living, skill-building, and community engagement while helping create a safe, structured, and home-like environment.
DSPs play a key role in helping individuals work toward the goals outlined in their Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Individual Behavioral Support Plan (IBSP), while treating every person with dignity, respect, and professionalism.
What You’ll Do
DSPs support individuals in their day-to-day lives through responsibilities that include:
Providing daily care, training, and behavioral support based on each individual’s IPP and IBSP
Supporting individuals with daily living activities, routines, and skill development
Encouraging participation in recreational and community-based activities
Preparing and serving meals and snacks according to established guidelines
Supporting medication self-administration as prescribed
Observing and reporting changes in health, behavior, or well-being
Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe living environment
Documenting progress, activities, and notes accurately and consistently
Participating in team meetings and care planning as required
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Valid California Driver’s License
Willingness to submit to DOJ, FBI, and CCL background clearances
Willingness to complete required health screenings (TB, physical, drug screen, functional capacity)
Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in residential care settings
Familiarity with IPPs, IBSPs, and person-centered support models
Strong communication and documentation skills
